As the year 2014 comes to a close, many avid readers are taking stock of their reading accomplishments for the year. One popular trend among book lovers is to participate in reading challenges, where they set goals for the number of books they want to read in a year, or they aim to read books from certain genres, authors, or time periods. As someone who participated in several reading challenges this year, I wanted to reflect on how I did and share my experiences.

One of the challenges I took part in this year was the Goodreads Reading Challenge, where participants set a goal for the number of books they want to read in a year. I set a goal of 50 books for 2014, and I am happy to say that I surpassed that goal by reading a total of 55 books. This challenge helped me stay motivated and focused on my reading goals throughout the year, and I enjoyed tracking my progress on the Goodreads website.

In addition to the Goodreads Reading Challenge, I also participated in a few genre-specific challenges, such as reading more science fiction and mystery novels. I discovered some amazing new authors and book series through these challenges, and I enjoyed stepping outside of my comfort zone and exploring different genres.

One of the most rewarding challenges I took part in this year was the “Read a Classic Novel” challenge, where I aimed to read a classic work of literature that I had never read before. I selected “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, and I was blown away by the powerful storytelling and important themes in the book. This challenge inspired me to delve deeper into the world of classic literature, and I have since added several more classic novels to my reading list.

Overall, I am proud of my reading accomplishments in 2014 and grateful for the reading challenges that helped me stay motivated and push myself as a reader. Participating in reading challenges not only helped me discover new books and authors, but it also provided a sense of community and connection with other book lovers around the world.

As 2014 comes to a close, I am already thinking about the reading challenges I will participate in next year. I look forward to setting new goals, exploring new genres, and continuing to expand my reading horizons. Reading challenges have not only made me a better reader, but they have also enriched my life in countless ways. I encourage all book lovers to try participating in reading challenges and see how they can enhance their reading experience.
