As an avid reader, I always try to finish every book I start. However, there are rare occasions when a book just doesn’t capture my attention enough to keep me engaged until the end. Unfortunately, Sarah Adams’s novel, The Rule Book, is one such book that I just couldn’t finish.

The Rule Book follows the story of a woman named Zoey who discovers a mysterious rule book that has the power to control people’s actions and decisions. Intrigued by its capabilities, Zoey starts using the rule book to manipulate situations in her favor. The concept of the novel seemed promising, and I was eager to see how Zoey’s actions would play out in the story.

However, as I delved deeper into the book, I found myself struggling to connect with the characters and the plot. Zoey came across as manipulative and self-centered, which made it hard for me to sympathize with her. The other characters also lacked depth and development, making it difficult for me to become emotionally invested in their journeys.

Additionally, I found the pacing of the novel to be slow, with long-winded descriptions and unnecessary dialogue bogging down the narrative. I found myself losing interest in the story and having to force myself to continue reading, which is never a good sign.

Furthermore, I also found the writing style to be lacking in finesse. The prose was clunky and awkward at times, making it hard for me to fully immerse myself in the story. I found myself constantly being pulled out of the narrative by awkward phrasing and jarring transitions.

In the end, I made the difficult decision to set aside The Rule Book and move on to another book. While I hate not finishing a book, I also believe that life is too short to spend time on a novel that doesn’t hold my interest. I am disappointed that I couldn’t connect with Sarah Adams’s novel, but I am grateful for the opportunity to explore new stories and discover new authors.

In conclusion, The Rule Book by Sarah Adams just wasn’t the right fit for me. While the concept was intriguing, the execution fell short, leaving me feeling disconnected from the characters and the story. Despite not finishing the book, I will continue to explore different genres and authors in search of my next great read.
