A: I’ve always been fascinated by science fiction and dystopian stories, and I wanted to create a world that was both terrifying and hopeful. The idea of a young girl fighting against overwhelming odds and discovering her own strength really resonated with me. I also drew inspiration from my own experiences as a teenager, growing up in a society that often feels stacked against you.

Q: What was your writing process like for “Dove Arising”?

A: I spent a lot of time outlining and developing the world of “Dove Arising” before I even started writing. Once I had a clear vision of the story and the characters, I dove in and let the narrative unfold. I tried to write every day, even if it was just for a few minutes, to keep the momentum going. It was definitely a challenging process, but incredibly rewarding.

Q: What themes do you hope readers take away from “Dove Arising”?

A: One of the main themes of “Dove Arising” is the idea of resilience in the face of adversity. Phaet faces numerous challenges throughout the novel, but she never gives up. I hope readers can see themselves in her and find inspiration to overcome their own obstacles. I also wanted to explore the power of knowledge and education in shaping our world, as well as the importance of loyalty and family.
