As we find ourselves halfway through the year, it is the perfect time to reflect on the best books we have had the pleasure of reading in 2018. Whether you are a fan of fiction, non-fiction, mysteries, or romance, there have been plenty of standout reads so far this year. Here are some of the best books I have read in 2018:

1. “Circe” by Madeline Miller: This novel breathes new life into the ancient Greek myth of Circe, the enchantress who turns Odysseus’s men into pigs. Miller’s writing is mesmerizing, and she weaves a captivating tale of power, love, and transformation.

2. “An American Marriage” by Tayari Jones: This novel explores the impact of the criminal justice system on a young African American couple when the husband is wrongfully convicted of a crime. Jones’s storytelling is powerful and poignant, making this a must-read for anyone interested in social justice issues.

3. “Educated” by Tara Westover: This memoir tells the story of Westover’s journey from growing up in a strict, survivalist family in rural Idaho to earning a PhD from Cambridge University. The resilience and determination Westover demonstrates in the face of incredible obstacles is truly inspiring.

4. “The Woman in the Window” by A.J. Finn: This gripping psychological thriller follows an agoraphobic woman who witnesses a crime in her neighbor’s house. As she tries to uncover the truth, she finds herself caught up in a web of lies and deceit. Finn’s writing is suspenseful and will keep you guessing until the very end.

5. “Children of Blood and Bone” by Tomi Adeyemi: This YA fantasy novel takes place in a West African-inspired world where magic has been outlawed. When a young girl discovers she has the power to bring magic back, she sets out on a dangerous quest to restore balance to her kingdom. Adeyemi’s world-building and storytelling are truly impressive.

These are just a few of the incredible books I have had the pleasure of reading so far in 2018. Whether you are looking for a thought-provoking memoir, a heart-wrenching romance, or a pulse-pounding thriller, there is truly something for everyone on this list. I can’t wait to see what other amazing books the rest of the year has in store.
