With Christmas just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to add some new books to my ever-growing bookshelf. This year, I was lucky to receive some fantastic reads as gifts, and I am excited to share with you the ten most recent additions to my bookshelf from my Christmas 2022 book haul.

1. “The Atlas Six” by Olivie Blake – This highly anticipated fantasy novel follows a group of six magicians competing for a coveted spot in a secret society. With themes of power, ambition, and friendship, I can’t wait to dive into this compelling story.

2. “The Love Hypothesis” by Ali Hazelwood – A contemporary romance novel that has been receiving rave reviews for its witty banter and charming characters. I’m looking forward to curling up with this heartwarming read.

3. “Project Hail Mary” by Andy Weir – From the author of “The Martian”, this sci-fi thriller follows a lone astronaut on a mission to save humanity from extinction. I’m a huge fan of Weir’s work, so I know I’m in for a treat with this one.

4. “The Maidens” by Alex Michaelides – A gripping psychological thriller about a group of women who become entangled in a murder investigation at Cambridge University. With twists and turns galore, I can’t wait to unravel the mystery of this novel.

5. “Malibu Rising” by Taylor Jenkins Reid – This family drama set in 1980s Malibu has been on the top of my reading list for a while now. With its lush setting and complex characters, I’m sure this novel will be an unforgettable read.

6. “The Guncle” by Steven Rowley – A heartwarming novel about a gay uncle who becomes the caregiver for his niece and nephew after a family tragedy. With humor and compassion, this book promises to be a touching and uplifting read.

7. “When Two Feathers Fell from the Sky” by Margaret Verble – This historical fiction novel set in 1926 explores the lives of two Native American women who set out on a journey to find their missing family members. With rich storytelling and vivid imagery, I can’t wait to immerse myself in this captivating tale.

8. “Black Boy Out of Time” by Hari Ziyad – A powerful memoir that explores race, identity, and queerness through the author’s own experiences. I’m looking forward to learning from Ziyad’s insights and gaining a better understanding of these important issues.

9. “Klara and the Sun” by Kazuo Ishiguro – From the Nobel Prize-winning author of “Never Let Me Go”, this dystopian novel follows an artificial friend named Klara as she navigates a world filled with technological advancements and ethical dilemmas. I’m eager to delve into Ishiguro’s thought-provoking storytelling.

10. “The Final Revival of Opal & Nev” by Dawnie Walton – A fictional oral history of a rock duo that rose to fame in the 1970s, this novel promises to be a fascinating exploration of music, race, and fame. I can’t wait to rock out to this compelling read.

With such a diverse and exciting mix of genres and themes, I’m thrilled to have these ten books added to my bookshelf this Christmas. I can’t wait to delve into each one and immerse myself in the worlds and characters that await me. Here’s to many hours of happy reading in the new year!
