The year 2021 was filled with highly anticipated book releases from a variety of genres, but sometimes, despite our best intentions, we just can’t get to all of them. As an avid reader, I was particularly excited about several new releases this year that have garnered critical acclaim and positive buzz from readers. Unfortunately, due to a busy schedule or a never-ending TBR pile, I haven’t had the chance to read them yet. Here are the top ten 2021 releases I was excited to read but haven’t gotten to yet.

1. “The Push” by Ashley Audrain – This psychological thriller about motherhood and family dynamics has received rave reviews for its suspenseful plot and haunting portrayal of motherhood.

2. “Klara and the Sun” by Kazuo Ishiguro – This highly anticipated novel by the Nobel Prize-winning author explores themes of artificial intelligence and what it means to be human.

3. “The Four Winds” by Kristin Hannah – This historical fiction novel set during the Great Depression has been praised for its powerful storytelling and emotional depth.

4. “The Wife Upstairs” by Rachel Hawkins – This modern retelling of Jane Eyre with a twist has been on my radar since its release, and I can’t wait to dive into this gripping suspense novel.

5. “A Court of Silver Flames” by Sarah J. Maas – As a fan of the “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series, I was eager to read this highly anticipated spin-off following a beloved character.

6. “The Rose Code” by Kate Quinn – This World War II historical fiction novel has received critical acclaim for its richly drawn characters and gripping plot.

7. “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue” by V.E. Schwab – This fantasy novel about a woman who makes a Faustian bargain for immortality has been on my TBR list for months, and I can’t wait to finally read it.

8. “The Sanatorium” by Sarah Pearse – This atmospheric thriller set in a remote Swiss Alps hotel has been praised for its tense atmosphere and twisting plot.

9. “The Lost Apothecary” by Sarah Penner – This historical fiction novel intertwines the stories of three women across centuries, blending mystery, intrigue, and magic.

10. “Project Hail Mary” by Andy Weir – This science fiction novel by the author of “The Martian” has garnered widespread acclaim for its high-stakes plot and engaging protagonist.

As a reader, it can be frustrating to have a growing list of books that you’re excited to read but haven’t gotten to yet. However, I’m looking forward to diving into these 2021 releases and discovering new worlds, characters, and stories that will captivate and inspire me. Here’s to making time for the books we love and discovering new favorites in the year ahead.
