There are so many books out there that it can be overwhelming to keep track of all the ones we want to read. Sometimes, we come across a book that catches our eye, but for one reason or another, we forget why we wanted to read it in the first place. Here are ten books that I want to read, but have forgotten the reason why:
1. “The Goldfinch” by Donna Tartt – I remember hearing great things about this book when it first came out, but now I can’t recall what exactly drew me to it.
2. “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern – The premise of a magical circus sounded intriguing, but I have since forgotten why I added it to my reading list.
3. “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn – This psychological thriller was all the rage a few years ago, but I can’t remember why I was interested in reading it.
4. “The Secret History” by Donna Tartt – Another book by Donna Tartt that I added to my list at some point, but can’t remember why.
5. “The Girl on the Train” by Paula Hawkins – I remember the hype surrounding this book when it was first released, but the reason for my interest has slipped my mind.
6. “Americanah” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – I have heard so many good things about this book, but now I can’t recall what specifically drew me to it.
7. “The Immortalists” by Chloe Benjamin – This book about four siblings who visit a fortune teller sounds intriguing, but I have forgotten why I wanted to read it.
8. “Educated” by Tara Westover – The memoir of a woman who leaves her strict Mormon upbringing to pursue education sounded fascinating, but the reason for my interest has faded.
9. “The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah – This historical fiction novel set during World War II has been on my reading list for a while, but I can’t remember why I wanted to read it.
10. “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho – This classic book about following your dreams has been recommended to me multiple times, but the reason for my interest is now a mystery.
Despite forgetting the specific reasons for wanting to read these books, I still plan to pick them up at some point. Perhaps rediscovering the stories within these pages will reignite my initial curiosity and remind me of why I was drawn to them in the first place. In the meantime, these books remain on my ever-growing reading list, patiently waiting for their chance to be cracked open and enjoyed.
