Can you believe it? Top Ten Tuesday, the popular book blogging meme created by The Broke and the Bookish, is now 10 years old! For a decade, book bloggers and readers alike have been setting aside Tuesdays to share their top ten lists on a variety of book-related topics. To celebrate this milestone, I decided to revisit some of my old Top Ten Tuesday posts and give them a fresh update. Here are the top ten updates to my old TTTs:
1. Top Ten Favorite Book Covers: Since my original post, I have discovered so many new books with stunning covers. Some of my recent favorites include “Circe” by Madeline Miller and “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens.
2. Top Ten Book Boyfriends: My taste in book boyfriends has definitely evolved over the years. While I still love Mr. Darcy from “Pride and Prejudice,” I have also fallen for characters like Kaz Brekker from the Six of Crows duology.
3. Top Ten Fantasy Series: There have been so many amazing fantasy series that have been released since my original post. I have recently enjoyed series like “The Daevabad Trilogy” by S.A. Chakraborty and “The Poppy War” by R.F. Kuang.
4. Top Ten Anticipated Book Releases: This list is constantly changing as new books are announced. Some of the books I can’t wait for now include “The Bone Shard Daughter” by Andrea Stewart and “The Midnight Bargain” by C.L. Polk.
5. Top Ten Book Quotes: As I continue to read more books, I come across powerful and meaningful quotes that resonate with me. Some recent favorites include quotes from “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue” by V.E. Schwab and “The Song of Achilles” by Madeline Miller.
6. Top Ten Book Recommendations: I have discovered so many amazing books through recommendations over the years. Some recent favorites that I would recommend are “The Space Between Worlds” by Micaiah Johnson and “Mexican Gothic” by Silvia Moreno-Garcia.
7. Top Ten Villains: Villains are such a crucial part of any story, and my list of top villains has definitely changed. Some recent villains that have stood out to me include The Darkling from the Grisha Trilogy and Victor Vale from the Villains series.
8. Top Ten Bookish Merch: With the rise of bookish merch shops like OwlCrate and Fable & Black, my collection of bookish merch has grown significantly over the years. Some recent additions include bookish candles, enamel pins, and bookmarks.
9. Top Ten Book Events: Attending book events like author signings and book festivals is always a highlight for me. While in-person events have been limited recently, I have been able to attend virtual events and panels with authors like Brandon Sanderson and Leigh Bardugo.
10. Top Ten Book to Movie Adaptations: With the success of book to screen adaptations like “Shadow and Bone” and “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” I have updated my list of favorite book to movie adaptations. Some recent adaptations that I have loved include “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue” and “Normal People.”
As Top Ten Tuesday celebrates its 10th anniversary, it’s clear that this book blogging meme has become a beloved tradition for book lovers everywhere. Here’s to another decade of sharing our love for books through top ten lists!
