As we reach the halfway point of 2023, it is time for me to reflect on my top ten reading goals for the year and see how I have been progressing. While I have been able to make some significant progress in some areas, there are still some goals that I hope to achieve by the end of the year.

One of my main reading goals for 2023 was to read at least 50 books by the end of the year. So far, I have read 27 books, which puts me slightly behind schedule. However, I am hopeful that I can catch up in the second half of the year and reach my target.

Another goal of mine was to read more diverse books from authors of different backgrounds and cultures. I have been making a conscious effort to seek out books by authors from marginalized communities and have already read several eye-opening and thought-provoking works. I hope to continue expanding my reading horizons in this way throughout the rest of the year.

I also set a goal to read more non-fiction books, particularly those that focus on topics such as history, science, and psychology. While I have read a few non-fiction books this year, I feel that I could definitely read more in this genre. I have already lined up a few titles that I am excited to delve into, and I hope to make more time for non-fiction reading in the coming months.

One of my more specific goals was to read at least five classic novels that I have never read before. I have already crossed two books off my list – “Jane Eyre” and “Wuthering Heights” – and I am currently in the middle of another classic, “Moby Dick.” I hope to finish all five books by the end of the year and perhaps even tackle a few more classics if time allows.

In addition to these goals, I also hope to continue supporting local bookstores and independent authors by purchasing more books from them. I have been making regular visits to my favorite indie bookstore and have discovered some amazing new authors in the process. I plan to keep up this practice and show my support for the literary community in any way that I can.

Overall, I am pleased with the progress I have made on my reading goals so far this year. While there is still work to be done, I am confident that I can achieve even more in the second half of 2023. By staying focused and dedicated to my reading pursuits, I hope to not only meet my initial goals but also surpass them and continue broadening my literary horizons. With determination and a love for reading, I believe that anything is possible.
